Best Calorie Tracker App in Spanish (2026): 7 Apps Compared for Spain and Latin America
Which calorie tracker apps actually work in Spanish? We compared 7 apps on Spanish interface, Spanish and Latin American food, Spanish voice and AI coaching, and annual prices on the Spanish and Mexican App Stores, checked October 9, 2026.
Key takeaways
- All 7 apps we checked have a Spanish interface. Fitia, Yazio, FatSecret, MyFitnessPal, Cal AI and Lose It! declare Spanish on the App Store, and Callie ships Spanish in the app although its listing shows English.
- Fitia is the Latin American specialist. It is based in Lima, says its nutrition data comes from Latin America and Spain, and builds meal plans around your calories, tastes, schedule and budget.
- Callie has a Spanish interface, an AI coach that replies in Spanish and photo, voice or text logging with a review screen before anything is saved, for €39.99 a year in Spain.
- Yazio and FatSecret can be cheaper than Callie. On October 9, 2026, Yazio's 12-month plans started at €14.99 in Spain and MXN 299 in Mexico, and FatSecret's annual plan started at €35.00 and MXN 290.
- For home cooking such as a cocido, a mole or a plate of arroz con pollo, photo logging with a correction step often beats searching a database for the dish's local name.
Callie is our app, and it is one of the seven compared here. We checked every other app's Spanish and Mexican App Store listings ourselves on October 9, 2026, and each one gets the category it is best at.
The 30-second answer
If you eat mostly Latin American food and want a meal plan, the best calorie tracker app in Spanish is Fitia. If you want an AI coach that replies in Spanish and photo, voice or text logging you review before saving, pick Callie: AI Calorie Tracker, at €39.99 a year in Spain. If you want the lowest price, Yazio and FatSecret often cost less than both. If you mostly eat packaged and chain-restaurant food, MyFitnessPal has the biggest database, with the barcode scanner behind Premium.
What "works in Spanish" should mean
Every app here translates its menus into Spanish. The differences are elsewhere. We judged each app on four things:
- Interface language. Is Spanish declared on the App Store listing (the
languageCodesISO2Afield in Apple's lookup API, Spanish and Mexican storefronts)? - Spanish and Latin American food. Can it handle a tortilla de patatas, a cocido, chilaquiles, arepas or a menú del día, and does it use local names (aguacate or palta, frijoles or porotos)?
- Spanish input and coaching. Can you type or say "un plato de arroz con pollo y ensalada" and get a sensible entry, and does a coach answer in Spanish?
- Local pricing. What does the annual plan cost on the Spanish (€) and Mexican (MXN) App Stores?
Callie's App Store listing currently declares English only, although the app ships a Spanish interface. That is a gap in our listing, and we would rather you hear it from us.

The apps, one by one
1. Fitia: best for Latin American food and meal plans
Fitia is based in Lima, Peru, and was part of Y Combinator's Summer 2021 batch (Y Combinator). Its listing says its nutrition information comes from Latin America and Spain, and it logs by photo, voice or typed notes. Its meal plans are built around your calories, tastes, schedule and budget, they turn into a shopping list, and Fitia Coach adjusts your plan as you progress. Photo and voice logging are Premium. In Spain, 12-month plans were €35.99 to €39.99, with a family plan at €59.99. In Mexico, 12-month plans were MXN 609 to MXN 679. Its listing declares English and Spanish only. Our Callie vs Fitia page compares the two in detail.
2. Callie: best for AI logging you check first, with a coach in Spanish
Callie's interface is available in six languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Arabic and Japanese. The AI coach replies in Spanish, and in any other language you write in. You can log by photo, voice or text. Photo scans are never logged automatically: you see the foods, portions, calories and macros on an edit screen and fix them before saving. That matters for a paella or a plate of mole, where the oil and sauce are hard to see.
Callie also re-tunes your calorie target every 2 weeks from your weight trend, builds a daily diet plan matched to your BMI and keeps a streak dashboard where planned cheat days don't break the streak.
What we don't do well: our food database is smaller than Fitia's, Yazio's or MyFitnessPal's, our App Store listing doesn't yet declare Spanish, and the barcode scanner is paid after the 3 trial logs. In our own 20-meal test against a kitchen scale, Callie averaged 13% error and Cal AI 17% (method).
Price: free download with 3 AI logs to try it, then €39.99 a year, €17.99 a month or €5.99 a week in Spain. On the Mexican App Store the annual plan was MXN 499 on October 9, 2026.
3. Yazio: best on price, with a large packaged-food database
Yazio's Spanish listing describes a database of more than 4 million foods, a barcode scanner and food ratings. On October 9, 2026 its 12-month plans ranged from €14.99 to €47.90 in Spain and MXN 299 to MXN 699 in Mexico. Several of those are below Callie's price, so if cost decides it, Yazio is often the better deal. We couldn't find voice logging or an AI coach on the listing. See Callie vs Yazio.
4. FatSecret: best for starting without paying
FatSecret's Spanish listing says the app is free, with image recognition, a barcode scanner, Apple Health sync and dietitian-built meal plans in Premium. It runs a Spanish site, fatsecret.es, which its listing links for its terms. Annual Premium was €35.00 to €53.90 in Spain and MXN 290 to MXN 830 in Mexico. There is no AI coach on the listing.
5. MyFitnessPal: best for packaged and restaurant food, if you pay
MyFitnessPal declares Spanish among 19 languages. Barcode scanning, Meal Scan and voice logging are Premium. Annual Premium was €49.99 and €87.99 in Spain and MXN 899 and MXN 1,599 in Mexico. Its database is centred on US packaged and restaurant food. Francisco Partners owns both MyFitnessPal and Cal AI.
6. Cal AI: best for photo-only simplicity
Cal AI declares Spanish among 15 languages and is built around snapping a photo. Its in-app purchases ran from €2.99 to €34.99 in Spain and MXN 19 to MXN 599 in Mexico, without labelled billing periods. In our testing it logs a scan before you review it. See Callie vs Cal AI.
7. Lose It!: best for a large international food library
Lose It! declares 8 languages including Spanish, and its Spanish listing describes more than 27 million items in its international food libraries. Snap It photo logging, voice logging and the barcode scanner are Premium. Its purchase lists mix plan names (€9.99 to €85.99 in Spain, with a lifetime option), so check the annual price in the app.
Why photo logging matters for Spanish and Latin American cooking
The same dish has different names in Spain, Mexico, Peru or Argentina, and most home cooking never had a barcode. A database search for "seco de res" or "pabellón" may return nothing, or a user entry of unknown quality. A camera doesn't need the dish's name.
Photo estimates are weakest on rice dishes, stews and fried food, where oil and hidden portions add up. That is why we think a review step before saving matters here. Our multilingual calorie tracker comparison goes deeper on database coverage across languages.
Before you pay, log a full normal day in the app: breakfast, the main meal and whatever you snack on. If you end up typing most of it by hand because the app doesn't know your foods, pick another app.
When another app is the better choice
- Pick Fitia if you want meal plans built on Latin American food and a shopping list from your plan.
- Pick Yazio if the lowest price matters most. Its 12-month plans are often below Callie's in both euros and pesos.
- Pick FatSecret if you want to start without a subscription.
- Pick MyFitnessPal if you eat a lot of packaged and chain-restaurant food and don't mind paying for barcode scanning.
- Pick Cal AI if you only want photo logging and don't need to review scans first.
