- question: "Is Callie cheaper than Noom?" answer: "Yes. Callie is $34.99 a year in the US (€39.99 in the eurozone). Noom's App Store listing says Noom Weight plans start at $17 a month based on a $209 annual plan, and its in-app purchases ranged from $44.99 to $199.99 on September 28, 2026. Noom Med starts at $69 for the first month, before the cost of medication. They are not the same product, though, so price alone shouldn't decide it."
- question: "What is the difference between Noom and a calorie tracker?" answer: "Noom is a program. It gives you daily lessons on psychology, habits and behaviour change, a colour-coded way of thinking about food, group communities, optional 1:1 coaching and, through Noom Med, access to GLP-1 medication if a clinician prescribes it. A calorie tracker such as Callie focuses on logging what you eat quickly and accurately, setting a calorie target and helping you stay consistent. Noom includes food logging too, but it is one part of the program."
- question: "Does Noom offer GLP-1 medication?" answer: "Yes, in the US. Noom Med offers access to GLP-1 medications such as Wegovy, Zepbound, Mounjaro and Ozempic if you are eligible and a clinician prescribes them, plus its own compounded Noom GLP-1Rx option. Noom says plans start at $69 for the first month, not including the medication. Callie does not prescribe medication and does not track GLP-1 doses."
- question: "What is a good Noom alternative?" answer: "If you liked Noom's food logging but not the price or the lessons, a calorie tracker is the natural alternative. Callie logs by photo, voice or text for $34.99 a year. If you want a free manual tracker, try Cronometer or Lose It!'s free tier. If what you valued in Noom was the coaching and psychology content, there isn't a cheap tracker that replaces it, and staying with Noom may be the right call."
- question: "Does Noom have AI food logging?" answer: "Yes. Noom's App Store listing, checked on September 28, 2026, lists AI food logging with more than 1 million food items plus calorie and macro tracking. It also lists step tracking, body scans and dietitian-backed recipes."
- question: "Can I use Callie and Noom together?" answer: "You can, but most people won't want to pay for both. If you are on Noom Med for a GLP-1 prescription, keep Noom for the medical side. Callie is a tracker, and it is not a substitute for a clinician."
Callie is our app, so read this with that in mind. Noom is a very different kind of product from ours, and for some people it is clearly the better choice. We try to say exactly who those people are.
The 30-second answer
Callie and Noom solve different problems. Noom is a behaviour-change program: daily lessons on the psychology of eating, group communities, optional 1:1 coaching and, in the US, a GLP-1 medication service called Noom Med. Its annual Noom Weight plan is $209 a year. Callie is an AI calorie tracker. You log meals by photo, voice or text, check each photo estimate before it is saved, and follow a daily plan matched to your BMI, for $34.99 a year.
Pick Noom if you want to be taught and coached. Pick Callie if you want a fast, accurate tracker and you don't need the lessons.
What each product actually is
Noom has been on the App Store since 2013 and has 4.7 stars from 872,455 ratings in the US as of September 28, 2026. Its listing describes two main plans:
- Noom Weight: a program built on "daily lessons on psychology, habits, & behavior change", food logging, meal plans, fitness classes, communities called Circles and optional 1:1 coaching.
- Noom Med: access to GLP-1 medications such as Wegovy, Zepbound, Mounjaro and Ozempic if a clinician prescribes them, or Noom's own compounded GLP-1Rx, with online doctors and health coaches and a GLP-1 companion program.
Callie is a calorie and macro tracker with an AI coach. It is built around quick logging: photo, voice, text, barcode and restaurant-menu scanning. Around that it adds an adaptive calorie target, daily diet plans, a streak dashboard and scheduled cheat days. There are no human coaches and no lessons curriculum, and it is not a medical service.

If price is the question, Callie costs about a sixth of Noom Weight's annual plan: $34.99 against $209. Noom Med is in a different category, because it includes clinician access and, if you are prescribed one, a medication that costs extra.
The price gap is real, but it is not like-for-like. Much of what Noom charges for is the curriculum and the coaching, and Callie has neither. The honest comparison is: if you would only use Noom for logging food, you are paying for a lot you don't use.
Head-to-head
Logging food
Noom's listing includes AI food logging, a database of more than 1 million food items, and calorie and macro tracking. Noom also sorts foods into green, yellow and orange by calorie density, which many people find easier than raw numbers.
Callie's logging is the whole product. You can photograph a meal, say it ("chicken shawarma wrap and a small fries"), or type it. Every photo scan opens a review screen with the detected foods, portions, calories and macros, and nothing is saved until you confirm. Callie also reads the depth and camera metadata in the original photo to estimate portion size. In our own 20-meal kitchen-scale test, Callie's photo estimates had a 13% mean absolute error against 17% for Cal AI (details). We have not tested Noom's photo logging, so we won't give it a number.
Why the review step matters: AI photo estimates tend to come in low. We covered a 2026 study of four photo apps in our write-up of the AI calorie app accuracy study. Seeing the estimate before it is saved is the easiest way to catch a miss.
Lessons and coaching
This is where Noom wins clearly. Its core is a curriculum of short daily lessons on the psychology behind eating: triggers, habits, all-or-nothing thinking, what to do after a bad day. You can add 1:1 coaching and join group Circles. Noom states on its listing that users lose an average of 15.5 lbs in 16 weeks; that is Noom's own figure.
Callie has an AI coach that you can chat with in any language, and it knows your logs and targets. It is useful for questions like "what should I eat for dinner to hit my protein?". It is not a structured course, and there is no human on the other end.
If you have tried tracking before and quit because of how you felt about food rather than because logging was slow, Noom's approach is aimed at exactly that. Our article on why people quit calorie tracking covers the most common reasons.
GLP-1 medication
Noom Med offers, in the US and if you qualify, access to GLP-1 medications through its own clinicians, with a companion program designed to protect muscle. Callie does not prescribe, and does not track GLP-1 doses. If you are on a GLP-1 and want a tracker for protein and calories, see our guide to calorie apps for GLP-1 users and our GLP-1 diet plan. If you want the prescription itself, Noom Med is a service Callie simply doesn't offer. Neither app replaces advice from your own doctor.
Plans and habits
Noom gives you meal plans, dietitian-backed recipes, 1,000+ fitness and meditation classes in Noom Move, and rewards for daily check-ins.
Callie's version is more about the day-to-day:
- A daily diet plan matched to your BMI: keto, intermittent fasting, a calorie cut, balanced or custom, with meals and exercises refreshed every day and allergies taken into account.
- An adaptive calorie target that re-tunes every two weeks from your weight trend.
- A GitHub-style streak dashboard that shows every logged day at a glance.
- Cheat days you schedule in advance that keep your streak intact.
Languages and availability
Noom's App Store listing shows four languages: English, German, Korean and Spanish. Callie's app is in six: English, French, Spanish, German, Arabic (right-to-left) and Japanese, and its AI coach chats in any language. Noom Med's medication service is described for the US; Callie works the same everywhere it is sold.
When Noom is the better choice
Pick Noom if:
- You want structured lessons on the psychology and habits behind eating, not just a tracker.
- You want human coaching or a group to keep you accountable.
- You want a GLP-1 prescription and the support program around it in one place (US only, if eligible).
- You prefer a colour-coded way of thinking about food to counting every calorie.
- You want fitness and meditation classes in the same app.
These are good reasons, and a cheaper tracker won't give you any of them.
When Callie is the better choice
Pick Callie if you already know roughly what to change and want the tracking to be fast: photo, voice or text logging, a review screen before anything is saved, a daily plan matched to your BMI, and a streak dashboard with protected cheat days, for $34.99 a year. It also suits you if you want the app in French, Arabic or Japanese. See pricing, or compare it with another tracker in Callie vs Lose It!.
How to switch from Noom to Callie
- In Noom, note your current weight, height and goal weight.
- If Noom syncs with Apple Health, leave that on so your weight history is available to Callie.
- Install Callie from the App Store or Google Play and run the setup.
- Pick a plan and log your next meal by voice or photo.
- Cancel Noom through your App Store or Google Play subscriptions, or through Noom if you subscribed on its website. If you are on Noom Med, talk to your prescriber before stopping any medication.
Your Noom lessons and logs don't transfer. What you learned from them does.

Frequently asked questions
Is Callie cheaper than Noom?
Yes. Callie is $34.99 a year in the US (€39.99 in the eurozone). Noom Med starts at $69 for the first month, before the cost of medication. They are not the same product, though, so price alone shouldn't decide it.
What is the difference between Noom and a calorie tracker?
Noom is a program. Noom includes food logging too, but it is one part of the program.
Does Noom offer GLP-1 medication?
Yes, in the US. Callie does not prescribe medication and does not track GLP-1 doses.
What is a good Noom alternative?
If you liked Noom's food logging but not the price or the lessons, a calorie tracker is the natural alternative. Callie logs by photo, voice or text for $34.99 a year. If you want a free manual tracker, try Cronometer or Lose It!'s free tier. If what you valued in Noom was the coaching and psychology content, there isn't a cheap tracker that replaces it, and staying with Noom may be the right call.
Does Noom have AI food logging?
Yes. Noom's App Store listing, checked on September 28, 2026, lists AI food logging with more than 1 million food items plus calorie and macro tracking. It also lists step tracking, body scans and dietitian-backed recipes.
Can I use Callie and Noom together?
You can, but most people won't want to pay for both. If you are on Noom Med for a GLP-1 prescription, keep Noom for the medical side. Callie is a tracker, and it is not a substitute for a clinician.
