How to Cancel MyFitnessPal Premium (iPhone, Android and Web) and Get a Refund
Step-by-step instructions to cancel MyFitnessPal Premium on the App Store, Google Play or myfitnesspal.com, how refunds work, and why you should export your diary before Premium ends.
Key takeaways
- Cancel MyFitnessPal Premium on the platform where you paid. iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Android: Play Store, profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions. Web: myfitnesspal.com, Settings, Subscription Settings, Auto-Renewal off.
- Cancelling only stops the next charge. Premium stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and MyFitnessPal warns that cancelling less than 24 hours before renewal may not stop it.
- MyFitnessPal's terms say Premium purchases are non-refundable except at its discretion. Users outside the US may be entitled to a full refund within 14 days of signing up. App Store and Google Play refunds go through Apple or Google.
- Data export is a Premium feature. Export your nutrition, progress and exercise history before your paid period ends. Your logs stay in your free account after you downgrade.
- Cal AI is a separate subscription even though MyFitnessPal owns it. Cancelling Premium does not cancel Cal AI.

The 30-second answer
Cancel on the same platform where you paid. MyFitnessPal can't cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription for you.
- iPhone (App Store): Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, then MyFitnessPal, then Cancel Subscription.
- Android (Google Play): Play Store, then your profile icon, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions, then MyFitnessPal, then Cancel Subscription.
- Web (myfitnesspal.com): log in, click Settings, then Subscription Settings, and switch Auto-Renewal from On to Off.
Do it at least 24 hours before your renewal date, and export your data first, because export is a Premium feature.
Step 1: Export your diary before Premium ends
MyFitnessPal's help center says data export is available to Premium and Premium+ subscribers, and that free accounts don't include a data export tool. Once your paid period runs out, you lose it. Export first.
On the website: log in, click Reports, click Export on the right, choose your date range and click Export.
On iPhone: open the app, tap More (or your profile icon if there is no More menu), select Nutrition, tap Export in the upper right, pick a date range and tap Export My Information.
On Android: open the app, tap More, go to Progress or Nutrition, tap the export icon (a page with a folded corner), confirm your email and date range, and tap Export.
The export arrives by email as a zip file with three CSVs: meal-level nutrition, progress history (weight and measurements) and exercise history. MyFitnessPal recommends downloading it on a computer.
If Premium has already lapsed, you still have the printable report. On the website, open the Food tab, scroll down, click View Full Report (Printable), choose a date range and print or save it as a PDF. It isn't available in the app.
MyFitnessPal's help center says your logs, recipes and progress history stay in your account when you go back to Free. You lose the paid features, not the data.
Step 2: Cancel on the platform you paid through
MyFitnessPal says you must cancel on the platform where you originally paid. If you aren't sure which one that was, search your email for the receipt. It will come from Apple, Google or MyFitnessPal.
Cancel MyFitnessPal Premium on iPhone or iPad
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap your name at the top.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select MyFitnessPal.
- Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll down to see it.
If there is no Cancel button and you see an expiration date in red, the subscription is already cancelled. MyFitnessPal's help center says it has no access to App Store payment details, so only Apple can cancel or refund those subscriptions.
Cancel MyFitnessPal Premium on Android
- Open the Play Store app.
- Tap your profile icon in the upper right.
- Tap Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select your MyFitnessPal subscription.
- Tap Cancel Subscription at the bottom and follow the prompts.
Uninstalling the app doesn't cancel the subscription. Google says so in its own help pages.
Cancel MyFitnessPal Premium on the web
- Log in at myfitnesspal.com with the same email and password you use in the app.
- Click Settings, then Subscription Settings.
- Switch the Auto-Renewal toggle at the bottom from On to Off.
Premium stays active until the end of your current billing cycle.
What happens after you cancel
You are cancelling the next charge, not the current period. MyFitnessPal says Premium features stay available until the end of the period you already paid for, whenever you cancel. After that your account becomes a free account.
On Free you keep food and exercise logging, custom foods and recipes, measurements and progress history, diary sharing, partner app connections and the printable report. You lose Premium features such as Meal Scan, the barcode scanner, macros by meal, data export and the ad-free experience, according to MyFitnessPal's Free, Premium and Premium+ comparison.
Timing matters. MyFitnessPal warns that if you cancel less than 24 hours before renewal, the subscription may still renew.
Can you get a MyFitnessPal refund?
Sometimes, and who handles it depends on where you paid.
MyFitnessPal's terms of service say all Premium purchases are "final and non-refundable, except at our sole discretion." The same section says that if you live outside the United States, you "may be entitled to change your mind and receive a full refund within fourteen (14) days of signing up."
- App Store: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose Request a refund, pick a reason, then select the MyFitnessPal subscription and submit. Apple says you'll usually hear back within 24 to 48 hours.
- Google Play: on play.google.com, open your profile, then Payments and subscriptions, then Budget and order history, find the charge and click Report a problem. Google says requests within 48 hours of purchase may be refundable through Play. After 48 hours, it tells you to contact the developer.
- Website: contact MyFitnessPal support through its help center.
Ask soon after the charge. A request made a few days after renewal is easier to approve than one made months later.
Cal AI is a separate subscription
MyFitnessPal acquired Cal AI in a deal that closed in December 2025 and was announced on March 2, 2026. The two apps are still billed separately. Cancelling MyFitnessPal Premium does not cancel Cal AI, and Premium does not unlock Cal AI. If you pay for both, cancel each one in your App Store or Google Play subscription list. We walk through the Cal AI side in how to cancel Cal AI.
When keeping Premium makes sense
If you log mostly packaged foods by barcode, think before you cancel. MyFitnessPal's food database is far larger than Callie's, and the barcode scanner is a Premium feature, so you lose it when you drop to Free. If that is how you log most meals, keeping Premium, or moving to Cronometer's free tier, which still includes barcode scanning, may suit you better than a photo-first app.
What to use instead
If you are cancelling because of price, look at the free options first. Cronometer's free tier includes barcode scanning, device sync and detailed nutrient tracking, with ads. FatSecret has a large free tier too. You may not need to pay for anything.
If you want faster logging, Callie is our app. It logs by photo, voice or text, shows you every photo estimate on a review screen before anything is saved, and includes a streak dashboard and daily diet plans matched to your BMI and goal. It isn't free: you get 3 AI logs to try it, then it costs $34.99 a year. MyFitnessPal still has a much bigger food database, and that matters if you eat a lot of packaged foods.
